Now that you’ve left your yard undisturbed for the insects to live in through the cold April nights, May is the best time to refresh your yard and garden.
Spring cleaning includes both the inside and outside of your home. This includes spending some time to spruce up your garden and make your property look even more beautiful.
If you are like me, you must love having the little refuge right outside your door, a place where you can spend those beautiful spring days.
But if you are not sure where to start, don’t worry! Follow these simple tips to get your garden spring ready:
- Make A List
- Walk through your property and take note of what needs to get done and what you want to do.
- Plan your project and make note of what’s involved.
- Check Your Tools
- Just when you are ready to start your project, you find out that the tool you need is broken or missing! How frustrating?!
- To prevent this, be sure to check your tools so you can save yourself future headaches! If you are not sure how to check them, there are lots of videos available online to guide you through.
- Cleanup
- Remove all the leaves, dead plants and anything else left over from the winter thaw. Use what you can to make compost for your garden.
- Tidy up
- This one is simple. Get rid of weeds, keep your grass clipped and bushes trimmed.
- Preparing the space will motivate you for the next step.
- Planting and mulching
- A garden is a great way to express yourself. Fill it with your favourite flowers and put your stamp on it.
- Not only does mulch help to keep the moisture in but it also helps create aesthetic you are going for.
- Maintenance
- Just like a house that is neat and tidy, having a nice, clean garden also help destress you.
- By keeping on top of it, you will have your own little oasis right outside your door.
